Free Phone Scheme: 40,000 free connections on first day
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) offer of free connections is expected to crop some Rs 250 million to Rs 300 million off the state-owned company’s bottom line by the end of current financial year.
Business managers at the company have calculated that over 400,000 connections would be provided in the week-long campaign which started Thursday.
‘We charge Rs 750 per connection in urban areas and Rs 500 in rural areas,’ Mashkoor Hussain, Senior Executive Vice President, PTCL told Daily Times from Islamabad. ‘As per our estimates it would cost us around Rs 250 million to Rs 300 million. But it does not mean that we are losing Rs 300 million but in fact increasing our subscribers’ base through different strategies…
