CNN launches Young Journalist Award in Pakistan
The [Cable News Network] has launched the CNN Young Journalist Award (CNN YJA) 2004 in Pakistan to recognise quality journalism among young media professionals.
Launched in India last year, the CNN YJA 2003 received an overwhelming response and has now been extended to include Pakistan this year. The aim of the CNN YJA is to recognise quality journalism and create a new breed of young journalists. The competition is open to journalists in India and Pakistan between the ages of 22 and 26 years, from electronic, online and print media. The winners of CNN YJA 2004 will win a week’s trip to CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta for an in-depth overview of CNN’s distinctive newsgathering strengths. The runner-ups will spend a similar period at the CNN bureaux in Islamabad and New Delhi. The last date for entries is October 15, 2004.
CNN YJA 2004 has two categories, television and print/online. In Pakistan, the television category is open to all young news journalists working in television. Entrants to the TV category must submit a feature style television news package that has been produced and aired between January 1 and September 30, 2004. Submission must relate to a general news story relevant to any part of Pakistan…
