Pakistan beat India to lift revived Kirlosker golf trophy
The Kirlosker Trophy tournament, on the format of the Ryder Cup (news – web sites) between the United States and Europe, was last held in 1991 and was revived amidst a thaw in India-Pakistan relations.
“It was a great occasion of golf revival and winning the trophy is the icing on the cake,” Pakistan’s non-playing captain Zulfiqar Rana told AFP on Wednesday.
Pakistan made a clean sweep by winning five matches in the foursome play on Monday while the sixth match was tied as the home player Tariq Mahmood won all his matches.
“India have been progressing well in golf at Asian and international level so our win is a big achievement,” said Rana.
