Lahore Exhibition Joins Fresh and Seasoned Painters
An exhibition of paintings by old and new artists in oil, water, pastel and acrylic opened at the Coopera Art Gallery on Thursday.
There were over 100 pieces of art on display at the exhibition, including by established artists such as Dr Ijaz Anwar, Ghulam Rasool, Mehboob Ali, Rahat Naveed Masood and Muhammad Javed, the gallery director.
The young artists explained their works to Daily Times.
Sumera Jawad from the Punjab University (PU) Fine Arts Department, whose works are portraits of women, said she had tried to express ideas of feminism and liberty through her female figures.
Ayesha Siddiqui, also from the PU, said her works dealt with heritage sites and her vision of how they should be conserved.
Samina Zaheer, also from the PU, said her painting titled Greenery was about how trees communicated with society as they grow and change with time.
Saeed Ahmed, whose best work was the beautiful Hunza Valley, said he had done three exhibitions on wildlife paintings and another one was being organised. He is also illustrating a book on predators found in Pakistan…
