Young Pakistani Woman Breathes Life into Ancient Afghan Craft

“They would laugh at my suggestions until the Kabul exhibition was all sold out,” says a confident Arji, a Kabul-based Pakistani ceramist, of her proteges. Arjumand Karim, popularly known as Arji,did her foundation programme in ceramics from St.Martins College of Art in London and went on to graduate from Hunerkada, Islamabad, with a major in ceramics. Since the late ’90s she has actively worked in the field and contributed to shows in Karachi and other cities.
