Lahore Theatre Festival Attracts More Crowds

Theatre lovers flocked to the festival where plays are being staged on different social issues by Pakistan and Indian theatre groups. Itt, written and directed by Shahid Nadeem, was first performed in August 1988 when bonded labourers in Pakistan were engaged in a bitter struggle against politically powerful brick-klin owners. The play was based on research about the conditions of bonded labour in Pakistan and interviews with families, especially brick-klin workers.
