It takes 10 minutes to decide a fight between two roosters, but it requires at least 20 months to prepare a super fighting rooster. This traditional sport has no association or federation at the national level, but still there are thousands of diehard followers of this game in Rawalpindi. Like in boxing, there are different weight categories in a rooster fight – 2.5kg, 2.75kg, 3kg and 3.25kg. A rooster’s fighting life is two and a half years after which it gets lazy and can’t compete. It means that if one adds 20 months of initial training, a rooster goes into retirement after the age of four years.
