New Discovery Highlights Pakistan’s Neglected Historical Treasures

This week’s chance discovery of new historical treasures near Harappa in Pakistan’s Punjab province comes as a powerful reminder of the country’s prospects for revisiting what some consider its rich historical legacy. While Pakistan may be just 57 years old, its history dates back to an era much before that. And yet, the country chooses to neglect its history in more ways than one. Indeed, other ruins along sites such as Mohenjadaro in Sindh and Taxila in northern Punjab that date back to the years before Christ say much about the ancient historical character of the areas that now form part of Pakistan.
