A Star Studded Children’s Book Launch in Karachi
The proceeds of the book are to be donated to The Citizen’s Foundation Schools network for the underprivileged children in the country. The children’s fantasy book Mo’s Star, authored by Mahnaz Malik, translated by Fahmida Riaz and published by the Oxford University Press, was launched amidst a truly ceremony at a local hotel on Wednesday. The famous Hollywood director of movies, the Oscar winning Il Postino and Merchant of Venice, Michael Radford, flew all the way form London to direct and support the audio performance of the book in association with Joseph Fiennes. The Indian celebrity and blockbuster Parineeta’s lead actress, Vidya Balan, all the way from Mumbai to Karachi, to narrate the Urdu translation of the book to a rapt audience, tuned to her terrifically clear and controlled voice.
