It was my first visit to Pakistan. As an India i knew i would not get another chance easily (i know its the same for Pakistanis who want to visit India). I was determined to make use of the opportunity that came my way. i have more than a dozen friends in Pakistan who i have met at different places and on net.
As expected, even though i was part of a larger south Asian gathering, the Paki and Indian participants got along famously and were friends instantly. This phenomenon was noticed at other such gatherings. The answer to this is simple. We share the same culture, interests!
After an 18 days visit i am back in India still thinking about Pakistan! i just loved Lahore and its people. I was treated special when they knew that i was Indian. most of them thought that i was from Karachi to my surprise. Even a self claimed Lashkar e Taiba activist i accidentally met in a xerox shop was friendly!
I learnt that there is so much more yearning for peace among people than in India! especially the youth in both countries do not want to think about what happened during the partition and focus on the future dreaming an open border between the two nations.
I hope soon this city specific visas issue by both countries will end!
