Pakistan - A Nuclear State without Electricity

www.pakpositive.com

Pakistan and its troubles are well documented . A nuclear state incapable of providing security or uninterrupted supply of basic necessities of life like water and electricity to its citizens .

It is estimated that almost 70% of the country\'s population is in the age group of 0-30 . This youth of Pakistan is aware of our challenges and is deeply concerned by the prospects of our nation if we were to continue on the path that we are on. Youth and civil society is eager for things to change and perhaps that is the reason why they decided to rally behind Imran Kahn\'s PTI during elections of 2013 despite his apparent shortcomings as a politician.

This urge for change is future illustrated by Muhammad Jibran Nasir and his efforts to bring a leading clerics to justice , his efforts may have been fruitless so far are nonetheless great example of youth wanting to deviate from our norms . Our history is full of such complete disregard of the law by the strong and inaction form the law enforcing agencies ! He has been relentless in his pursuit to ensure that infamous cleric of Lal Masjisd Maulana Abdul Aziz is prosecuted in accordance with the law of Islamic Republic despite the inherent risk associated with such an endeavour .

His struggle is commendable but at the same time is futile , what our civil society and youth seem to ignore is the fact that these politicians are nothing but mere instruments that only get elected by the blessing of those who hold real power . Among them are hardliners such as Abdul Aziz . It is naive to expect that politicians who depend on these very people to get elected to Parliament will act against them especially since only few hundreds of us are willing to come out on street against injustice and mockery of our constitution . We all want change but not many of us have the perseverance , will or undying hunger for a better tomorrow that is essential for such a change to come .

Pakistan is in a dire need of leadership that is competent and independent . Leadership that is in touch with the masses not one that is born , raised and educated in a foreign country . The privileged few that rule over our country have never been exposed to everyday problems of Pakistan , there are many states within a state in Pakistan one of which is the Pakistan of the elite . Unfortunately all of our leader belong to this category and they are incapable of resolving the issues faced by the country even if they had the will as they are grossly unsynchronised with our realities and suffer from extreme case of incompetence .

Pakistan needs roads , power plants , airports etc. but most urgently it needs young aspiring leadership that can understand the full extent of the the challenges in front of us and is capable of taking them head on. Unless we produce such leadership it is fair to assume nothing is going to change and those who challenge the writ of the state will roam free unchecked and undisturbed while the people continue to suffer . Until such day comes when our leadership is of the people, by the people and for the people . As General Musharraf said \"Pakistan Ka Allah Hi Hafiz.\"
